WWN Health Series - Intro to Tai Chi for Women’s Health

Tai chi is an ancient Chinese martial art based on the philosophy that soft, yielding power can overcome hard, rigid power. Shirley Chock will explain why this ancient art is so well suited to help today’s working women manage their stressful lives. Shirley will guide participants through a series of gentle tai chi movements while explaining how tai chi can improve the following:

• Our ability to manage and defuse stress
• Our body’s ability to our boost immune system
• Our mind’s ability to focus
• Our ability to perceive and adapt to changes in our environment
• Our exercise strategy so we exercise smarter and get healthier

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes for a gentle workout and meditation session.

Shirley Chock is the Workday Financial Management Lead for the Workday @ Yale Program. She has studied tai chi under Grandmaster Aiping Cheng since 2001 and is Assistant Director at the Aiping Tai Chi Center in Orange, CT. She is the former women’s U.S. National Internal Martial Arts Champion.
