Event Recap - CT Campaign for Paid Family Leave

March 9, 2017

On March 9, staff from the Connecticut Women’s Education and Legal Fund CWEALF presented on the CT Campaign for Paid Family Leave. In their Know Your Rights and Campaign Update workshop, Catherine Bailey, deputy director, Samantha Gorley, legal intern, and Nilda Rivera, community advocate gave an overview of current laws relating to pregnancy discrimination, nursing, and U.S. and Connecticut Family and Medical Leave Acts. They also gave an update on the campaign’s proposed legislation in Connecticut. At the same time the presentation was going on, the Labor and Public Employees Committee was busy discussing the bills in Hartford. Both S.B. 1 and H.B. 6212 were voted out of the committee that day, an important step! To stay informed about the campaign and learn how to get involved, visit their webpage or like them on social media (Twitter, Facebook).
