WWN Spotlight: Wendy Battles

April 15, 2014

Wendy Battles is a Change Management Specialist with Information Technology Services (ITS).  She has been at Yale for five years, and in that time has worked to transition our community to new technologies with emphasis on comprehensive training and superior communication.

“It’s fulfilling to support positive change and help people adapt in a way that doesn’t have to be scary, and can even be fun,” she says.  Her job gives her the opportunity to work with individuals throughout the University and to identify ways in which they are able to learn and grow professionally.  Wendy attributes her passion for change management to the team she works with each day.  “In my immediate department, we have a tight knit, supportive team that is excited to work on behalf of our customers to deliver fantastic results.  I love the collaborative nature of what I do and enjoy working with a variety of people across several diverse project teams”.

When Wendy is not providing support through ITS, she is working to enrich the lives of others through her initiative, Healthy Endeavors.  With eight years of experience as a health coach behind her, Wendy challenges her clients to adopt healthy eating habits and achieve their health goals.  “Like other areas of our lives, coaches can make a big difference in our motivation, focus and ability to change.”  She adds, “Nothing makes me happier than supporting my clients in making lasting changes that help them feel empowered about their bodies and health, not to mention more excited about life”.

Be sure to keep an eye out for Wendy around campus and on television.  She recently presented her creative and fun healthy eating tips to ITS in a Pecha Kucha session entitled “Kale Yeah!”, which makes the connection between healthy eating and workplace productivity.  She is also regularly featured on Good Morning Connecticut to demonstrate just how simple and rewarding healthy lifestyle choices can be.  Her efforts to change lives do not stop there, however.

“In addition to working with individuals, I’m inspired to help support healthier communities,” she says.  “As in most cities, many New Haven residents struggle with public health issues like obesity, diabetes  and heart disease.  I’m currently creating the concept for a web TV series that showcases innovative ways that communities across Connecticut are addressing public health challenges.”

The WWN is thrilled to showcase Wendy Battles and her important work, both at Yale and beyond.  View her most recent appearance on Good Morning Connecticut below!
