Yale’s WorkLife Program is honored with its third Seal of Distinction

March 31, 2015

Yale’s work-life practices and procedures have earned a Seal of Distinction bestowed by the Alliance for Work-life Progress (AWLP) for the third year in a row.

The alliance’s mission is to define and acknowledge best practices and innovation, facilitate dialogue, and elevate work-life thought leadership. Its Seal of Distinction is granted annually to employers who, through innovative and comprehensive programs, are dedicated to ensuring that their employees can strive for a healthy and productive balance between their work and home lives.

The seal is a mark of excellence that evaluates applicants in seven areas of work-life efficacy — caring for dependents, health and wellness, workplace flexibility, financial support for economic security, paid and unpaid time off, community involvement, and progress in transforming organizational culture. Yale was one of 77 organizations honored on March 18 at the Gaia Awards dinner in Nashville, Tennessee.

Deborah Stanley-McAulay, chief diversity officer,” says, “Each employer of choice distinction the university earns says to the world that we, Yale University, are creating and shaping a workplace culture that will help to not only retain staff, but also to recruit new staff.”
