Event Recap - It’s Time to Talk About Eating Disorders

February 28, 2017

On February 28, the Yale Family Network (a subcommittee of the Working Women’s Network) and Diversability at Yale (DAY) hosted Ms. Ilene Fishman of the National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA).  Ms. Fishman spoke about the different categories of eating disorders; she also shared her personal experience of recovery from an eating disorder.

The topic of eating disorders can be confusing for those who are suffering through the experience as well as their loved ones.  Fishman discussed the shame that can be associated with eating disorders.

Fishman’s presentation delved into this serious topic that is garnering more concern from the medical field, and she also provided guidance on how and where to get help.

For those interested in seeking help with an eating disorder, please contact your health care provider and NEDA can provide additional help and support.  Please visit NEDA’s website here. NEDA also provides the NEDA Navigator, which is a peer-to-peer online support structure that you can find here.
