Please join the WWN Yale Family Network for a discussion with a diverse panel of parents who work across several disciplines, about the trials and tribulations of balancing work, family, and social pressures. A Q&A will follow the discussion. Lunch will be provided.

A diverse panel of parents who work across several disciplines discuss the trials and tribulations of balancing work, family, and social pressures, followed by a Q&A session.

Panelists include: Licella Arboleda, Gateway Community College Counselor; Alaine Griffin, Hartford Courant State Editor and Southern Connecticut State University Instructor; James Rawlins, Jr., Data Science Consultant and Goodwin College Instructor; and Pierre Morton, Assistant Director, Employer Relations.

Licella Arboleda works full time as a Mental Health Counselor at Gateway Community College, is an Adjunct Psychology Professor, and works as a part-time associate at Kohls. Licella sits on the executive board for the CT Association of Latinos in Higher Education (CALAHE), and is involved in the Train the Trainer for Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR), a suicide prevention initiative.

Alaine Griffin is state editor at The Hartford Courant where she has worked since 2000 as both a reporter and editor. She has won awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and New England Associated Press News Executives Association, including top honors for her coverage of the 2010 trial of Cheshire home-invasion suspect Steven Hayes. Alaine has also worked in the last decade as an adjunct instructor of journalism at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven.

James Rawlins, Jr. is a data science consultant, instructor of Business Administration and Management & Leadership at Goodwin College, and doctoral student. He also serves on the board of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America of Southern Connecticut.

Pierre Morton serves as the Assistant Director, Employer Relations for the Career Development Center responsible for establishing and maintaining employer relationships leading to experiential and employment opportunities for undergraduate/graduate students and alumni. Prior to joining the CDC team, Pierre worked as the Manager of Customer Services at the University of Bridgeport training and developing all levels of staff. Pierre worked as the Assistant Director of Human Resources and Administration at Yale University after various positions of increasing responsibility at the Yale Health Center as an Ambassador Coordinator, Sr. Administrative Assistant, to Call Center Manager. Pierre graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management from Albertus Magnus College and with a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of New Haven.
