On October 7th, DiversAbility at Yale, Working Women’s Network, and the Yale African American Affinity group partnered to bring together a panel of experts to discuss and bring awareness to what lupus is, how it is diagnosed and its prevalence in the community (lupus primarily affects women, African Americans, Hispanics, and those of Asian descent). The panel discussed living with lupus, the stigma associated with lupus, and what can people can do to provide support for those with the disease.

The four panelists were Lenore Buckley, Professor of Rheumatology and Pediatrics; Larissa Hall, Senior Administrative Assistant, Library IT; Colleen Hann, Northeast Ambassador for Lupus Foundation of America; and Reese McLeod, Senior Administrative Assistant, Cardiovascular Medicine. The panel was moderated by Shawana Snell of the Haas Arts Library.
