Event description:

Wednesday, November 16 was declared the International Day of Tolerance by the United Nations  (UNESCO)  in 1996.

This action followed the adoption of a Declaration of Principles on Tolerance by UNESCO’s Member States on 16 November 1995. Among other things, the Declaration affirms that tolerance is neither indulgence nor indifference. It is respect and appreciation of the rich variety of our world’s cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human. Tolerance recognizes the universal human rights and fundamental freedoms of others. People are naturally diverse; only tolerance can ensure the survival of mixed communities in every region of the globe.

In the spirit of these declarations, WWN invites you and your family to view “Don’t Tell Anyone: No le Digas a Nadie, a documentary which follows Angy Rivera, an advocate for the rights of undocumented people living in the United States.

Description: Facing a grim future in a country devastated by civil war, Maria Rivera made the ultimate sacrifice for her and her three-year old daughter Angy and fled to the United States. Since then, Angy has lived with a secret that has threatened to upend her life in the only country she has ever called home:  she is undocumented.  No le digas a nadie follows Angy’s remarkable story as an activist for the rights of undocumented youths, working together with other inspiring individuals as they navigate the perils of a life led in the shadows.  In 2010 she began Ask Angy a blog and advice column for which she has gained both enthusiastic praise from followers and intense hatred from detractors.  No Le Digas a Nadie is a film about courage, about facing insurmountable obstacles and about the determination to fight for justice.
