Event description:

We are coming together to understand that Lupus is an unpredictable disease that causes flares. Our panelists are speaking up and bringing a broader awareness within the Yale community, which can help other people affected by this autoimmune disease. We recognize that collaborating and networking can give the same kind of valuable support as family members. So, we are lending a helping hand with chores and errands, offering a sympathetic ear, or a comforting shoulder. But to give support, colleagues need to have some understanding of the nature of Lupus. We understand that it is not necessary to share every detail about the life of one living with Lupus. However, helping those who are not aware of the possible symptoms of Lupus is essential.

Join DiversAbility at Yale, Working Women’s Network, and the Yale African American Affinity group for a panel discussion that will bring awareness to what Lupus is, the impact it has on the body, types of Lupus, causes of Lupus, facts about Lupus and its prevalence (in women, African Americans, Hispanics, and Asians), diagnosis of Lupus, life with Lupus, the stigma associated with Lupus, and what can we do to provide support. Lunch will be provided. To RSVP, go to: http://bit.ly/lupuspanelevent.

We also invite you to walk with our team for the 2019 Walk to End Lupus Now, that will take place on Sunday, October 20. More information about the walk can be found at: http://support.lupus.org/goto/yaleaffinitygroups.
