On October 16th, DiversAbility at Yale partnered with the Working Women’s Network for a workshop that featured university staff sharing their experiences of parenting a child with a disability. Topics included successful parenting techniques, child advocacy, educational resources, self-care, family networks, and more.

Panel members were Tammy Savercool, Elizabeth Vellali, Erica Asare, Richard Simons and Jason Killheffer.

The event elicited a number of positive comments from the audience. From this event, a new initiative has already started. Spearheaded by Amy Holt and Tammy Raccio, parents of children with disabilities will have the opportunity to meet over lunch to share experiences and provide mutual support. The first lunch will be held at 221 Whitney Avenue on November 12, 2019. More information can be found at: http://bit.ly/daylunchbunch
