Subject: New Federal Government Reporting Requirements: Veterans Status and Disability

Based on recent changes to federal requirements, Yale University is requesting all faculty and staff to respond to voluntary questions regarding self-identification of disability and protected veteran status.

As we have no way of accurately reporting this information, we need your help. Therefore, before the end of March, it would be greatly appreciated if all faculty and staff members who may be a veteran or have a disability, go to the “My Pay and Info” site (use the Yale Portal, go to “My Yale,” and then to “My Pay and Info” and click on “Ethnicity, Veteran and Disability Status”) to confirm your veteran status or that you have a disability. The government’s criteria for veteran’s status or disability is explained on the site.

Please be assured that your response will be kept confidential. For additional assistance, refer to the quick reference guide on the “My Pay and Info” site. And, should you still have questions or are unable to access the Ethnicity, Veteran and Disability status tab, please feel free to call the Employee Service Centerat 203-432-5552 or the Office for Equal Employment Programsat (203) 432-0849.

We greatly appreciate your help to comply with these new legal reporting requirements!
