Talking to Teens: Communication for Connection and Safety

Studies show that youth who feel they can talk with their parents are less likely to engage in risky behaviors such as promiscuity, using substances, violence, etc. However, it’s easy to have breakdowns when talking with teens, especially about their struggles. Many of us want to help our kids to feel better and even fix their problems…which actually doesn’t help. This class will help you recognize barriers to connecting positively and apply strategies that will improve your communication during this confusing developmental stage.

VIRTUAL: The 50/50 Campaign Virtual Learning Session

Join YWCA Hartford Region, Yale’s Affinity Groups, and The New Haven Club of The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club’s Inc. for a virtual learning session about the 50/50 Campaign, an initiative to promote gender equity and racial diversity on municipal boards and commissions. The 50/50 Campaign educates and encourages community members to join their local municipal boards and commissions to ensure residents have a voice in the decision-making process and help improve the quality of life for their community.
