This year, you can Heart Walk Here, there or anywhere! Choose our path or yours. We invite you to walk with our affinity group members at our in-person event on 5/7 at Savin Rock in West Haven, or wherever you feel inspired. No matter where you choose to walk, participating and donating to the Heart Walk will save lives and improve lives.

If you’ve found yourself drinking a little more to cope during the pandemic, you are in good company! It has been a hard two years, for women particularly. It’s spring 2022 and a time for new beginnings. If you want to change up some habits you collected during the last two years, join DiversAbility at Yale, Working Women’s Network, Yale Latino Networking Group, and Susan Larkin for an enlightening talk about habits, health, and wellness.

The Building Blocks of Consent: Title IX, The Law, and Children

Join the Yale Affinity Groups for an interactive workshop to explore the dynamics of consent in relation to healthy relationships, personal boundaries, and sexual misconduct. In addition, the history and application of Title IX laws and policies for K-12 and college students will be provided. Our presenter will be Freda Grant, a SHARE Advocate and Coordinator of Conduct Awareness Training and Prevention Education.

The Signs and Symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder

Join Yale’s Affinity Groups, Kelly Powell, Ph.D, and Kashala Smith-Tavaris, CCC-SLP, for a discussion on the signs and symptoms of autism spectrum disorder. Autism spectrum disorder is a condition related to brain development that impacts how a person perceives and socializes with others, causing social interaction and communication problems. The disorder also includes limited and repetitive patterns of behavior. The term “spectrum” in autism spectrum disorder refers to the wide range of symptoms and severity.

Latin American Policy Leader Series - Visit of Regional Director of UN Women for Latin America & Caribbean

The Yale MacMillan Center Council on Latin American and Iberian Studies, Fox International Fellowship Program, and Program on Peace and Development are delighted to announce the 2022 Latin American Policy Leader Series. On behalf of the Working Women’s Network (WWN), we would like to invite you to join us for a celebration of our 2022 Recognition Award recipients on Thursday, March 31 at 12-1 pm via Zoom.

The 6th Annual WWN Recognition Award Ceremony will recognize six women who have been exemplary members of the Yale community: Limor Peer (Trailblazer), Melanie Elliot (Heroine), Sara Azam (Visionary), Nikki Mills (Worklife Champion), GoEun Lee (Innovator/Creator), and Joanna Carmona (Community Catalyst).

The Six Triple Eight Documentary Screening and Q&A

In February 1945, the Allied Forces were winning WWII and liberating the concentration camps. But the U.S. troops and their families weren’t getting their mail. Enter the only all-black Women’s Army Corps battalion to serve in Europe during WWII, the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion or Six Triple Eight. Despite facing racism and sexism from their own leadership and troops, the women served with honor, clearing 17 million backlogged letters. They were never fully recognized…until now.

How Black Women Geniuses Changed the Face of Popular Music Culture

With an innovative perspective on the story of Black women in popular music―and who should rightly tell it―Liner Notes for the Revolution pioneers a long-overdue recognition and celebration of Black women musicians as radical intellectuals. Daphne A. Brooks William R. Kenan, Jr., Professor of African American Studies, American Studies, Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies and Music, will be discussing the subject from her book “Liner Notes for the Revolution: How Black Women Geniuses Changed the Face of Popular Music Culture.”

Women, Feminism, and American Medicine

Join the Working Women’s Network for a Women’s History Month discussion on women, feminism, and American medicine. Our guest speaker will be Naomi Rogers, Ph.D., who will discuss the feminist women’s health movement, and how it empowered women’s knowledge, regarding their health and battle against paternalistic and oppressive practices within healthcare systems.
